Fun. Our community must be fun to partake. We want and need you to enjoy your time with us. The present team came together from Haze, and its successor worlds twenty years ago. Looking back, we all agree it was some of the best gaming experiences we ever had. We want you to have a fabulous time.
Permadeath. Death is a part of every good story. In Haze, there are no respawns and second chances. You'll want to read our policy before going much further. That being said, we encourage you to play in a manner that fits you!
We are focused on Immersive Roleplay. When you enter Haze, you’re entering a new world. We take RP rather seriously (probably more than other servers). We’d ask you to keep the lolz, lmao, and k’s to SMS and bring your best face forward while on the server. And if you’re brand new to roleplay, or even if you don’t consider yourself that great, we have a solid community to help you grow in that regard, too.
We are Player-Driven. Developers and staff maintain the server, and Dungeon Masters help enrich the world. But Haze is your story and the story of other players, and we’re all building it together. Original Haze (2002) was created initially around Hamlets. This legacy continues with all Hamlets and other organizations being purely player-run.
Low-level, low magic, slow progression, high fantasy. The persistent world is set in The Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. However, you may find that the "world" of Haze deviates in many ways from Ed Greenwood's original vision. You won't find +5 greatswords of dragon-slaying.
This world is Hard. This is a challenging server. Add on permadeath, low levels, and low magic; even Iron Mode veterans will find it hard. The island is an unforgiving place, as you’ll soon find out.
